Behavioral Disorders
Behavioral disorders, especially when present in children, can be extremely disruptive to education as well as interpersonal interactions. Such disorders include generalized anger, hyperemotional states, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).
Forceful action is frequently taken by others to regulate the behaviors associated with these disorders. For example, a parent may discipline a child for their misbehavior. But even when well-intentioned, these actions can often escalate the condition.
Sometimes, people are under the false illusion the affected person has control over their behaviors or reactions to stimuli. This is not the case. When someone has a behavioral disorder, their brain can be temporarily taken over by emotions such as fear, anger and shame.
The emotions the affected person experiences may seem to have very little correlation to the events happening in the present moment. However, when the brain is in a malfunctioning state, it may misinterpret stimuli. This misinterpretation is what leads to intense behavioral reactions in afflicted individuals.
Neurofeedback therapy, also called Neuromodulation therapy, is an all-natural, drug-free and pain-free way to alleviate behavioral disorders with long-term positive results. As it strengthens the prefrontal cortex, ongoing Neurofeedback therapy allows the patient to respond to situations with an appropriate level of emotion.
By regulating emotional response, the patient gains motivation, impulse control and the ability to handle day-to-day stressors.
